چکیده

Abstract Schnöckel's [(AlCp*) 4 ] and Jutzi's [SiCp*][B(C 6 F 5 ) (Cp*=C Me are landmarks in modern main‐group chemistry with diverse applications synthesis catalysis. Despite the isoelectronic relationship between AlCp* [SiCp*] + fragments, their mutual reactivity is hitherto unknown. Here, we report on reaction giving complex salts [Cp*Si(AlCp*) 3 ][WCA] ([WCA] − =[Al(OR [F{Al(OR } 2 ; R =C(CF ). The tetrahedral [SiAl core not only represents a rare example of low‐valent silicon‐doped aluminium‐cluster, but also—due to its facile accessibility high stability—provides convenient preparative entry towards Si−Al clusters general. For example, an elusive binuclear [Si (AlCp*) 2+ extremely short Al−Si bonds negative partial charge at Si atoms was structurally characterised bonding situation analysed by DFT. Crystals isostructural [Ge dication were also obtained represent first mixed Al−Ge cluster.

Cluster cores as observed with Chandra

We review recent results from Chandra observations of the X-ray bright cores of clusters of galaxies. We discuss the detection of " cold fronts " and their implication for thermal conduction, the interaction of cooling flow and radio source in the Perseus cluster and the dynamical state of the central region of A1795. The radial distribution of metals in A1795 and the azimuthal variation in met...

Cold Gas in Cluster Cores

I review the literature's census of the cold gas in clusters of galaxies. Cold gas here is defined as the gas that is cooler than X-ray emitting temperatures (∼ 10 7 K) and is not in stars. I present new Spitzer IRAC and MIPS observations of Abell 2597 that reveal significant amounts of warm dust and star formation at the level of 5 solar masses per year.

Cluster Cores, Gravitational Lensing, and Cosmology

Many multiply{imaged quasars have been found over the years, but none so far with image separation in excess of 8 00. The absence of such large splittings has been used as a test of cosmological models: the standard Cold Dark Matter model has been excluded on the basis that it predicts far too many large{separation double images. These studies assume that the lensing structure has the mass proo...

Red giant depletion in globular cluster cores

We investigate the observed depletion of red giants in the cores of post-core-collapse globular clusters. In particular, the evolutionary scenario we consider is a binary consisting of two lowmass stars which undergoes two common-envelope phases. The first common-envelope phase occurs when the primary is a red giant resulting in a helium white dwarf and main-sequence star in a detached binary. ...

Warming rays in cluster cool cores

Context. Cosmic rays are confined in the atmospheres of galaxy clusters and, therefore, they can play a crucial role in the heating of their cool cores. Aims. We discuss here the thermal and non-thermal features of a model of cosmic ray heating of clusters' cores that can provide a solution to the cooling-flow problems. To this aim, we generalize a model originally proposed by Colafrancesco, Da...
